I think that certainly other musicians ‘do melancholy’ but I’m pushed to think of others from the 60s who did. Joni Mitchell certainly and you’re right with Roy Orbison. So yes, fascinating how other cultures help us see our own in different ways. No, not seen the Depeche Mode film. If you’re recommending it then I probably should!
