Fascinating stuff thank you. 1963 was the year I was born and so I only remember snippets of them including the big deal about them breaking up in 1970, which I didn't really understand at the time. However, the Beatles, projected into immortality by Liverpool, Hamburg... and Soho, have been a constant positive and reassuring backdrop for most of my life.
I also like recreating Beatles photos with my wife and friends (we've done Mad Day Out at St Pancras Old Churchyard, and of course the Abbey Road crossing) so I wonder, is the alley on Wardour Street still there?
Yes Andy the alley is still there and looks more or less the same. Strip clubs have gone though, maybe a sushi bar there instead. It’s more or less opposite the end of Gerrard Street.
The evolution of Brit and world society: for that brief moment in time, we were all together , all joined up!
Fabulous as ever, Mike, major congrats on presenting such a vital piece on
Fab fab fab fab
There's nothing Mike doesn't know about the Beatles, Beatlemania, beatling...
Thanks again for this third part, it's so interesting and the videos are wonderful.
You’re very kind. Thank you and glad you’re enjoying it. Brace yourself next for tales of LSD, sitars, Marxism and one or two other things!
Really enjoying this series Mike and looking forward to the walk .
Thank you Claire! I’m very much hoping that we do it in May.
This is a brilliant series!
Thank you so much Anna. I appreciate your support.
